According to the French newspaper Le Monde, the right-wing French political party "Rassemblement National" plans to introduce a bill to use the surplus electricity from nuclear power plants for bitcoin mining.
The party's lawmaker, Aurélien Lopez-Liguori, began drafting the bill in July. The proposal plans to deploy high-performance computing machines at the nuclear power plant of French energy giant EDF to participate in the operation and maintenance of the blockchain network by performing complex calculations in return for newly minted bitcoins.
