The National History Museum's governing body said on Saturday (2nd) local time that the recent removal of a commentary board at the museum describing the two impeachments of US President Donald Trump was not due to pressure from the White House. According to Agence France-Presse, the Smithsonian Institution issued a statement on the X social platform saying that the commentary board was originally temporary and "did not meet the museum's standards in terms of appearance, location, timeline and overall presentation". "It is inconsistent with other parts of the exhibition and obscures the exhibits in the display case. For these reasons, we removed the commentary board," the statement said. "We have not received any request from any government or other government official to remove the exhibition content."
