Coinbase CEO Brain Armstrong revealed in a post on the X platform that he met Vitalik Buterin at the 2013 Bitcoin Conference in San Jose, USA, when he was writing for Bitcoin Magazine (his article was great), and invited him to visit Coinbase's first office in San Francisco a few months later. He showed off some cool stuff on his laptop, so he decided to try to hire him, so he contacted Vitalik Buterin to see if he was interested in joining Coinbase, but due to a series of reasons, including his inability to obtain a work visa in the United States, he ultimately failed to get his wish, and he had to return to Canada. Vitalik Buterin founded Ethereum during his stay in Canada, so to some extent, the imperfect immigration system in the United States contributed to the birth of Ethereum.
