Bo Hines, executive director of the White House Cryptocurrency Council, declined to disclose the number of bitcoins held by the US government in the latest podcast. Earlier reports suggested that the actual amount of bitcoins held by the US government may be much lower than the 200,000 previously estimated by Trump cryptocurrency adviser David Sacks, and only 29,000.
Regarding the specific figure, Hines said it "cannot be discussed at this time," but confirmed that the government plans to increase its holdings of bitcoin through a "budget-neutral" approach. It is worth noting that due to differences in the way assets are classified, confiscated bitcoins that have only completed judicial proceedings can be counted as government assets, while bitcoins that are in a state of seizure remain subject to legal uncertainty.
