According to the Wall Street Journal, two senior Republicans in the U.S. Senate on Wednesday unveiled a plan that would allow allies to fund donations of American weapons and military equipment to Ukraine. The PEACE Act, proposed by Senators Roger Wicker, Republican of Mississippi, and Jim Risch, Republican of Idaho, provides the first detailed outline of Trump's new plan to use European funds to arm Kiev. The bill would create a fund in the US Treasury to receive money from allies, according to Republican aides familiar with the proposal. The defense secretary could then use the funds to pay contractors to replenish the U.S. stockpile of weapons, so the Pentagon can continue to ship weapons and equipment to Ukraine without undermining America's own military readiness. The aides said they hoped to generate a flow of about $5 billion to $8 billion a year, with Germany and Britain likely to be donors.
