Cameron Albert Redman, a 22-year-old man from Mississauga, Ontario, was sentenced to one year in prison for conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud and conspiracy to commit aggravated identity theft.
According to court documents, in May 2022, Redman and his associates stole cryptocurrency and NFT assets from their victims by illegally accessing the social media accounts of multiple digital artists and inducing users to visit fake websites for NFT transaction authorization. The criminal gang caused losses to more than 200 victims in a few days, and illegally made $794,000.
Redman was arrested in Portugal in March 2025 and extradited to the United States. The case was jointly investigated by the Washington branch of the FBI and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Cybercrime Investigation Team.
