National Health Commission: Reduce the cost of childbearing, parenting and education for the masses through multiple channels, and further improve the maternity leave system

On July 30th, the State Council Information Office held a press conference at 14:00 today to introduce the childcare subsidy system and fertility support measures. Guo Yanhong, deputy director of the National Health Commission, introduced that the National Health Commission and relevant departments will reduce the cost of childbirth, parenting and education for the masses through multiple channels, and include the cost of infant care under the age of 3 in the special project of personal income tax additional deduction, and increase the deduction standard to 2,000 yuan per child per month; further improve the maternity leave system, and provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) generally extend maternity leave to 158 days and more; all set up about 15 days of paternity leave for spouses and 5 to 20 days of paternal leave for parents.
