According to CNBC, artificial intelligence startup Anthropic is in talks with investors to raise $3 billion to $5 billion in a funding round led by Iconiq Capital, valuing the company at $170 billion. Anthropic, a competitor to OpenAI, has seen its valuation grow rapidly over the past few months.
In March, the company raised $3.50 billion in a funding round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners at a valuation of $61.50 billion. Although Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei had previously warned about the national security risks of accepting investments from Middle Eastern sovereign wealth funds, according to leaked memos, he is now reconsidering accepting Middle Eastern funds.
