Ray Dalio, founder of Bridgewater, said in The Master Investor Podcast that investors are advised to allocate at least 15% of their portfolios to gold and bitcoin to hedge against the increasing risk in the bond and stock markets.
He pointed out that the macroeconomic risks from rising US government debt had not been fully priced in by the market and could trigger a significant decline. Dalio said he personally had a "strong preference" for gold over bitcoin and was sceptical of bitcoin becoming a central bank reserve currency. He believes bitcoin has shortcomings in terms of transaction privacy and may face protocol security risks.
