The U.S. Department of Government Effectiveness (DOGE) is using a new artificial intelligence tool aimed at slashing federal regulation, with the goal of eliminating half of the regulatory requirements by the week before Trump takes office, according to The Washington Post and four administration officials. The tool, called the "DOGE AI Deregulation Decision Tool," plans to analyze about 200,000 federal regulations to determine which ones can be eliminated. The tool is expected to cut about 100,000 regulation entries, according to a July 1 PowerPoint. The report also notes that the tool will save the U.S. trillions of dollars by reducing compliance requirements, slashing the federal budget and freeing up "outside investment." According to the report, the tool has successfully removed more than 1,000 HUD "regulatory provisions" in less than two weeks and completed "100% deregulation" at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
