Thai Foreign Ministry launches evacuation plan

On July 26, according to the Bangkok Post, the Thai Foreign Ministry announced that it has launched plans to evacuate Thai citizens from Cambodia in view of the ongoing military conflict between Thailand and Cambodia. The decision was made at a high-level meeting held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday. Thai Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa attended the meeting via video link and stressed that the government is fully prepared to assist overseas citizens. "I have instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to develop an evacuation plan for Thai citizens currently in Cambodia," Maris said. He added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has consulted with the Ministry of Transport, relevant agencies and airlines to decide to increase the number of seats on Bangkok-Phnom Penh flights to meet the needs of people who wish to return home.
