Global Ledger, an on-chain analytics firm, reported 119 crypto attacks in the first half of 2025, amounting to $3.01 billion, exceeding the total for the year 2024. The report revealed that the rate of money laundering by hackers has accelerated significantly, with nearly 70% of the funds being transferred before the attack became public. In nearly 23% of cases, the money laundering was completed before the incident was disclosed, and the fastest time took only 3 minutes. The report said that only 4.2% of the stolen funds were recovered; 15.1% of them were transferred through centralized exchanges (CEX), which often had only 10-15 minutes to block. CEX became the largest target of attacks, accounting for 54.26%.
