An investment firm led by a supporter of US President Donald Trump is suing Federal Reserve Chairperson Jerome Powell and other Fed officials to demand that the central bank hold its monetary policy meetings in a public manner. Azoria Capital, a firm owned by US investor James Fishback, said in a lawsuit filed on Thursday that the FOMC's decades-long practice of meeting behind closed doors violated the Government Transparency Act. The fund filed a request in a federal court in Washington for the Fed to meet publicly on July 29-30. "Azoria is deeply concerned that, under Powell's leadership, the FOMC has maintained high interest rates, undermining President Trump and his economic agenda and harming American citizens and the US economy," the company said in the lawsuit.
