President Donald Trump told an artificial intelligence summit in Washington on Wednesday that he had considered breaking up NVIDIA (NVDA. O) to increase competition in artificial intelligence chips, but later found "it's not going to be easy". "Before I knew the facts, I said, 'Look, we're going to break this guy up,'" Trump said. Trump said his aides told him it was "very difficult" to do so and that the company had a huge advantage over all its competitors that would take years to overcome. "I thought we could break them up a little bit and add a little bit of competition, and then I found out it wasn't going to be easy," Trump said. Mr. Trump went on to praise Renxun Huang, the chief executive of Nvidia, who was also at his event. "The United States has a unique advantage that no other country can have, and that is President Trump," Mr. Huang said on stage earlier in the day, praising Mr. Trump's approach to artificial intelligence.
