Fidji Simo, the outgoing chief executive of Instacart, will join OpenAI, outlining the vision for OpenAI's newly created role as chief executive of applications ahead of her official induction next month. "We must consciously build and share these technologies so that they lead to more opportunity and prosperity for more people," she wrote. OpenAI announced in early May that Simo, 39, will take over the operational responsibilities currently held by CEO Sam Altman, including finance and product development. This will allow Altman to focus on a broader strategy, the company said at the time.
