On July 20, the China Seismic Network officially determined that a magnitude 7.2 earthquake occurred at 14:49 on July 20 in the far sea off the east coast of Kamchatka, Russia (52.90 degrees north latitude, 160.45 degrees east longitude), with a focal depth of 10 kilometers. Previously, a magnitude 6.6 earthquake occurred at 14:28 in the far sea off the east coast of Kamchatka (53.05 degrees north latitude, 160.40 degrees east longitude), with a focal depth of 10 kilometers.
