People with direct knowledge of the situation said the Bank of England had asked some banks to review their dollar funding plans and their reliance on the dollar.
At one point, a UK-based global bank was asked to conduct stress testing, including a scenario in which the dollar swap market could dry up completely, another source said.
One analyst said this reflects a new pattern in which trust in international cooperation appears to be breaking down.
