On July 19, the 27th Senate election of the Japanese Parliament is scheduled to be voted on the 20th. A new opinion poll shows that the approval rate of the cabinet led by the current Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba fell to 20.8%, down 6.2 percentage points from the previous month, the lowest value since he came to power; while the disapproval rate rose to 55%, an increase of 6.6 percentage points from the previous month, the highest value since he came to power. In Japanese politics, the cabinet approval rate below 30% will be regarded as entering "dangerous waters" by public opinion; if it further falls below 20%, it will be regarded as falling into "waters of resignation".
