Decentralized derivatives trading platform dYdX has announced the acquisition of crypto social trading platform Pocket Protector, its first external acquisition. The deal brings most of Pocket Protector's engineering team into dYdX, and two co-founders, Eddie Zhang and Kaiser Kinbote, will join dYdX as president and head of growth, respectively. Antonio Juliano, founder and CEO of dYdX, told The Block that Pocket Protector has a total workforce of nine.
Founded last year, Pocket Protector raised $7 million from investors including Electric Capital and Dragonfly. The core product of the platform is a Telegram-based trading bot that allows users to trade with friends, follow top traders and get real-time trading ideas. It has also developed a iOS app that is currently in closed beta testing - but Juliano says it will not be released publicly after being acquired.
