Ministry of Commerce: Looking forward to the United States and China meeting each other halfway and jointly maintaining the stability of the global semiconductor production and supply chain

On July 18, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce answered a reporter's question on the US approval of the sale of NVIDIA H20 chips to China. After the Sino-US economic and trade talks in London, the two sides maintained close communication, confirmed the details of the London Framework and advanced relevant implementation work. China has approved export applications for qualified controlled items in accordance with the law, and the US has accordingly cancelled the restrictions on China involved in the talks in early July. We have noticed that the US has recently taken the initiative to express that it will approve the sale of NVIDIA H20 chips to China. The Chinese side believes that the US should abandon the zero-sum thinking and continue to lift a series of unreasonable economic and trade restrictions on China. Win-win cooperation between China and the United States is the right path, and there is no way out for suppression and containment. In May of this year, the US issued relevant export control guidelines for Huawei Yuteng chips, imposing strict controls on Chinese chip products on trumped-up charges, interfering in fair competition in the market with administrative force, and seriously damaging the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises. China has made its position clear and firmly opposed it. We expect the US to meet China halfway, correct its wrong practices through equal consultations, create a good environment for mutually beneficial cooperation between enterprises of both sides, and jointly maintain the stability of the global semiconductor production and supply chain.
