2025-07-16 22:47:20
Blockchain analytics firm Elliptic reports that criminals have moved $21.80 billion in illicit proceeds through decentralized exchanges, cross-chain bridges, and exchange services so far in 2025, with about 12% ($2.50 billion) coming from North Korean hackers. A third of complex cases involved more than three blockchains, and 27% spanned more than five chains. Elliptic warns that as AI and blockchain development accelerates, the market boom could invite more crypto scams.
