The chairperson of the US public company watchdog has resigned at the request of the SEC chairperson

Erica Williams, chair of the U.S. Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), has resigned after Paul Atkins, chair of the Securities Exchange Commission, called for her resignation. According to an email Williams sent to PCAOB employees, her last working day will be July 22. Williams began serving as PCAOB chair in January 2022 and was reappointed in June 2024.
