As the European Union and the United States are trying to reach a trade agreement, US President Trump announced on the 12th that he will impose a 30% tariff on imports from the European Union from August 1. Ministers of European Union member states met in Brussels on the 14th to discuss how to respond to Trump's latest remarks and prepare countermeasures. Speaking at a press conference after the meeting, the Danish foreign minister, who chairs the European Union's rotating presidency, said European Union members considered the US tariff threat "absolutely unacceptable".
