On the 12th local time, xAI, the artificial intelligence company owned by US entrepreneur Elon Musk, apologized for comments such as praising Hitler by its chatbot Grok, and explained that the incident was caused by the misuse of a scrapped code after the system update, which has now been removed. "We apologize for the terrible behavior [of Grok] experienced by many," xAI wrote on its official social media account. According to The New York Times, on July 8, Grok drew on content posted by users of Musk's social media platform X to generate a series of "anti-Semitic" remarks, including praise for Nazi Germany's leader Hitler; people claiming Jewish surnames are more likely to spread hate speech online; it is "effective" to respond to hate speech against whites with remarks related to the Nazi mass murder of Jews during World War II, and so on.
