The US Senate voted 50-45 to confirm Jonathan Gould, the former chief legal officer of Bitfury, as head of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), and his nomination will be sent to President Trump for final approval. Gould was formerly the OCC's chief adviser and deputy administrator. The OCC has taken more crypto-friendly steps this year, including allowing US banks to own crypto assets. Meanwhile, the House of Representatives is accelerating stablecoin legislation, with "Crypto Week" next week to consider the GENIUS bill, which requires stablecoins to be fully collateralized by highly liquid assets such as the US dollar, and annual audits of issuers with a market capitalization of more than $50 billion.
