Treasury yields fell as Mr. Trump stepped up pressure on Mr. Powell to slash interest rates. The current federal funds rate is at least 3 percentage points higher, Mr. Trump said in a post on the social media Truth Social. Mr. Trump is looking for a new Fed chair and has made it clear that he wants to choose someone who shares his views on monetary policy. CME data shows that the market generally expects the Federal Reserve to leave interest rates unchanged at its meeting later this month. Traders are betting that the Fed will cut rates by 25 basis points at its September meeting. Against this background, Treasury yields are moving towards the end of a five-day winning streak.
