The Trump administration has increased pressure, and Harvard is at risk of losing its accreditation

The Trump administration is ratcheting up pressure on Harvard University, warning it may be at risk of losing its accreditation and formally moving to subpoena the university for information about international students. The US Ministry of Education and Department of Health said they had notified the New England Commission on Higher Education (NECHE) of anti-Semitic behaviour at pro-Palestinian protests on campus following the outbreak of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which may have violated federal anti-discrimination laws and failed to meet the commission's accreditation standards. "By allowing anti-Semitic harassment and discrimination to persist on campus, Harvard University is failing in its obligations to students, educators and American taxpayers," Education Secretary McMahon said in a statement. She added: "We expect NECHE to enforce its policies and to keep the Ministry of Education fully informed of its efforts to ensure Harvard complies with federal laws and accreditation standards."
