Musk has announced the establishment of the "American Party", and related topics once surged to the top of Baidu's hot search, but analysis shows that even people with huge wealth and influence like Musk have shown unquestionable mobilization ability on the Internet and their followers are also loyal, high-profile and influential, but the "third party" barrier is still deeply rooted.
Historically, US "third parties" have struggled to achieve political success, according to public reports. Ross Perot, a wealthy businessperson, won nearly 19 per cent of the popular vote in the 1992 election but failed to win an electoral vote. Ralph Nader was labelled a "spoiler" in the 2000 election. More recently, Kadima, founded by Andrew Yang, a Chinese entrepreneur and former presidential candidate, has gained attention but struggled to gain traction. (Brokerage China)
