On July 6, India's National Narcotics Control Board (NCB) arrested Edison, a 35-year-old engineer from Kerala, suspected of running the country's largest dark web drug cartel and using Monero to hide transactions. Indian authorities seized more than $82,000 in crypto assets during Operation "MELON". The suspect has been running a dark web drug gang under the nickname "Ketamelon" for the past two years.
Edison is said to have sourced drugs from global suppliers, laundered the proceeds through the privacy coin Monero (XMR), and shipped the drugs across India.
