On July 5th, the Cambodian government announced on July 4th that it had discussed a joint statement with the United States and reached an agreement on the framework of a trade agreement on reciprocal tariffs. Details such as tariff rates have not yet been announced. Cambodia revealed that on the morning of the 4th, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanto and Sarah Ellerman, Assistant Representative for South East Asia and Pacific Affairs of the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR), held online consultations. The joint statement will be announced in the near future. US President Trump proposed a 49% reciprocal tariff rate to Cambodia in April. This rate is the highest in South East Asia.
