The leadership of the U.S. House of Representatives announced Thursday that the week of July 14 will be designated as "Crypto Week", during which it will focus on three important cryptocurrency bills: the GENIUS Stablecoin Act, the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, and a bill on a central bank digital currency (CBDC).
The GENIUS Act requires stablecoins to be fully backed by US dollars or highly liquid assets, and to conduct annual audits of large issuers. The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act aims to clarify the regulatory responsibilities of the SEC and CFTC, while requiring digital asset firms to provide retail financial disclosures and segregate corporate and client funds.
House Speaker Mike Johnson said the moves were "decisive steps towards achieving President Trump's digital assets and cryptocurrency agenda". Trump previously asked for a stablecoin bill to reach his desk by August, and this "crypto week" arrangement is expected to help lawmakers meet that deadline.
The US House of Representatives has declared mid-July as "Crypto Week" and will consider a number of cryptocurrency bills
