Trump's tariffs have generated tens of billions of dollars in revenue for the government, but the burden has been uneven among states. An analysis by Trade Partnership Worldwide, an economic research firm, shows the cost of tariffs to states between January and May. From January 1 to May 31 this year, California faced a tariff impact of $11.30 billion, the highest in the country to date. Texas came in second with $6 billion, followed by Michigan with $3.30 billion. Companies in 17 states had a tariff burden of at least $1 billion in the first five months of this year. Eleven other states had a tariff burden of less than $100 million, while Wyoming and Alaska suffered the smallest losses, each of more than $16 million. In the most affected states, more than half voted for Trump in the last election.
