U.S. initial jobless claims fell to a six-week low last week

Initial, seasonally adjusted jobless claims fell 4,000 to 233,000 in the week ending June 28, the lowest in six weeks since mid-May and below economists' forecast of 240,000, Labor Department data showed on Thursday. However, the total number of renewed jobless claims for the week ending June 21 remained high at 1.964 million, the highest level since the fall of 2021.
