Pulte said: "I ask Congress to investigate Powell, his political bias and his deceptive Senate testimony - sufficient to constitute'just cause 'to remove him from office." Pulte's report on the matter was retweeted by Trump and said Powell should resign immediately. Following media reports that the cost of the Fed's headquarters renovation project was rising and included a number of luxurious designs. At a Senate hearing last week, Powell refuted parts of the report, saying it was "misleading and untrue in many ways".
