Standard Chartered is bullish on bitcoin's performance for the rest of the year, expecting it to reach a new high of $135,000 by the end of the third quarter and break through $200,000 by the end of the year. Geoff Kendrick, head of digital asset research at Standard Chartered, said bitcoin has moved out of the 18-month pattern of price declines following the previous halving cycle due to strong inflows into exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and increased corporate treasury purchases.
Kendrick pointed out that these two drivers did not exist in the previous halving cycle and are expected to support the continued rise in bitcoin prices. Nonetheless, Standard Chartered does not rule out the possibility of price volatility from the end of the third quarter to the beginning of the fourth quarter.
