Certifick: Crypto hacks and scams cost more than $2.50 billion in the first half of 2025

According to the Hack3d report released by CertiK, the cryptocurrency industry lost more than $2.47 billion due to hacking and fraud in the first half of 2025, exceeding the total for the whole year of 2024. The combined losses of the Bybit vulnerability and the Cetus protocol vulnerability amounted to $1.78 billion. Wallet breaches were the main cause, causing $1.70 billion in losses, and phishing attacks caused a total of $410 million in 132 incidents. Ethereum was the most commonly attacked chain, involving 164 incidents, and losses amounted to $1.50 billion. Despite this, the total loss in the second quarter was $801 million, a decrease of 52% compared to the previous quarter.
