On July 1st, according to the Wall Street Journal, Brooke Rollins, the US agriculture secretary, said that the Trump administration may consider implementing tariff exemptions for goods that are difficult to grow in the United States, such as cocoa beans or coffee. At present, these goods are included in the scope of comprehensive tariffs, and Democrats have therefore attacked Republicans for raising costs. Rollins said in an interview: "Everything is under discussion at the moment, and I think it is important to fully understand and develop a comprehensive strategy that supports all of the above goals for certain products that we cannot produce domestically - keeping grocery prices low in the United States, ensuring that inflation is reduced as promised, and at the same time once again pushing our products to go global."
