Jameson Lopp, co-founder and chief security officer of Casa, a cryptocurrency self-hosted platform, said his malicious attack on the Bitcoin testnet resulted in the generation of more than 165,000 blocks (equivalent to 3 years of blocks) in the past week. When another user asked if the malicious attack was worth it, Lopp replied that it cost him $1 worth of electricity. The purpose of the malicious attack is to improve, not weaken, the Bitcoin testnet.
