On June 29, according to the Associated Press, Ukrainian officials said on Sunday that Russia launched the largest air strike against Ukraine since the beginning of the conflict overnight. The escalating bombing campaign further dashed hopes for peace to end the three-year conflict. The Ukrainian Air Force said that the Russian army fired a total of 537 air weapons into Ukraine, including 477 drones (including decoy drones) and 60 missiles. Of these, 249 were shot down by Ukrainian forces, and another 226/one crashed due to electronic jamming failure. Yuri Ignat, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian Air Force, said that considering the number of drones and various types of missiles, the night strike was "the largest air strike operation". The targets of the attack covered many parts of Ukraine, including the western region far from the front line. The Polish Air Force said on Sunday that Poland and its allies had scrambled fighter jets to ensure the security of Polish airspace.
