On April 30th, Eigenlayer published a white paper on GitHub and introduced the structure of the EIGEN token. EIGEN can act as a universal intersubjective work token. Work tokens are tokens that need to be staked (i.e. locked) to perform certain tasks.
EIGEN enhances the set of Active Validation Services (AVS) that can be protected by the EigenLayer and is fully complementary to ETH, i.e. ETH staking supports objective fault reduction and EIGEN staking supports inter-principal fault reduction.
