According to CoinDesk, South Korean retail investors are feverishly following Circle, buying a net $450 million this month, making it the most popular overseas stock among South Koreans. Circle's current price-to-earnings ratio is 187 times, far exceeding that of traditional fintech companies.
Shares of local financial tech giant KakaoPay rose 160 per cent as new president Lee Jae-myung accelerated the legalisation of the won stablecoin, while the National Assembly was considering the Digital Assets Framework Act to allow licensees such as KakaoPay to issue stablecoins.
