According to TechCrunch, Meta has hired Trapit Bansal, an influential OpenAI researcher, to work on AI inference models in the company's new AI superintelligence division. Bansal's addition could provide an important boost to Meta's AI Superintelligence Lab, which already brings together industry leaders including former ScaleAI CEO Alexandr Wang, former GitHub CEO Nat Friedman and Safe Superintelligence co-founder Daniel Gross. It is worth noting that Meta has not yet publicly launched any AI inference models in its Llama family of open-source models. In recent months, Zuckerberg has been recruiting talent intensively through high salaries to form Meta's new AI team, and it is rumored that the compensation package for top researchers is as high as $100 million. However, the specific salary package of Bansal's joining has not been disclosed.
