According to Cointelegraph, New York City Mayor Eric Adams criticized former Governor Andrew Cuomo's cryptocurrency policy at the Permissionless Conference in Brooklyn, calling it "wrong" and "misleading," and saying Cuomo's tenure had "dismantled and destroyed the industry."
Adams plans to form a city council to advocate for cryptocurrency policies and "establish channels" to pay for city services using cryptocurrencies, while introducing digital asset education in schools. He also said he is looking for ways to "circumvent" the city comptroller's opposition to his proposed bitcoin-backed municipal bond plan.
Adams, who announced he would accept his first three salary payments in bitcoin, said he still holds the funds. He will run as an independent candidate in November's mayoral election.
