Senate Republicans plan to start voting on the tax bill on Friday

According to the AXIOS website, U.S. Senate Majority Leader Thune said on Tuesday that he expects to begin voting on Trump's "beautiful big bill" on Friday, which will keep the vote open until the weekend and disrupt the House's recess plans for next week. But Thune is confident that Congress will send the bill to Trump by the July 4 deadline. Thune met with House Speaker Johnson around noon on Tuesday. Minutes before the meeting, Thune said he had not spoken with Johnson recently about the bill. House leadership reportedly told PEOPLE they were concerned about whether the Senate version of the bill would pass. Changes to state and local tax (SALT) deductions and Medicaid provider taxes are the biggest concerns. On SALT, Mr. Thune said, "I know this will be the last problem to be solved, and it will be."
