U.S. Commerce Secretary Luthnik wrote on the X platform that the United States is the greatest country in the world, but it has to bear the highest interest rates of all first-class countries. Our Federal Reserve chairperson is obviously afraid of his own shadow.
What was really sad about Mr. Powell's remarks was his claim that the tariffs had caused "price increases in some related categories, such as personal computers". You would think Mr. Powell would know that there are no tariffs on personal computers. Not yet. The tariffs on semiconductors and computers will be released after the Commerce Department completes its analysis.
These high interest rates are meaningless.
