Fed Daly: If there are no tariffs, we will consider normalizing interest rates

Mr. Daly said concerns about the impact of tariffs on inflation were not as serious as they were initially announced; that if there were no tariffs, interest rate normalisation would be considered; and that a sustained decline in inflation was good news. He said economic fundamentals were moving in a direction that might require a rate cut, and that unless weakness in the labour market was seen, a fall rate cut seemed more appropriate.
