The latest monthly meeting minutes of the Wyoming Stable Token Council (a government-backed organization) show that the council plans to officially launch the mainnet of its WYST stablecoin on August 20. WYST is a dollar-pegged stablecoin authorized by the Wyoming Stable Token Act in 2023 to solidify the state's leadership in blockchain.
The organization has not yet finalized which of the 11 blockchains - Aptos, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, Ethereum, Optimism, Polygon, Sei, Solana, Stellar, and Sui - WYST will be deployed on, but the first state-backed stablecoin is likely to be released simultaneously on multiple blockchains.
