According to a report released by elliptic, an on-chain data analytics agency, the attack on the Iranian crypto trading platform Nobitex is apparently related to the recent escalation of tensions between Israel and Iran. The funds stolen by the pro-Israeli hacking group "Gonjeshke Darande" (Predatory Sparrow) are currently stored in "spam addresses", and their public keys contain a variant of "F * ckIRGCterrorists" (cursing the content of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps).
Elliptic said the attack did not appear to be for profit. The addresses used by the hackers were generated through "brute force" - massive calculations required to obtain key pairs containing certain long texts, which meant that the "Predator Bird" had virtually no control over the private keys of these addresses. This "destruction of funds" was clearly designed to send a political signal to Nobitex.
Slow Mist founder Cosine also confirmed the information, saying that more than $80 million worth of cryptocurrency stolen from Nobitex was directly transferred to the address with a high probability of being a black hole, that is, directly destroyed.
