Canadian agriculture company AgriFORCE Growing Systems Ltd. has launched a program to power 120 bitcoin mining machines using abandoned natural gas, and the company says it plans to further expand the project. The project, located in the city of Burwyn, Alberta, was launched in partnership with energy provider BlueFlare Energy. AgriFORCE said on Tuesday that the site can achieve computing power of 32 beats per second (PH/s) with 425 kilowatts (kW) of power supply.
The site will use so-called "abandoned gas" - gas that cannot reach the market immediately because it is not economical to extract or cannot be physically extracted through existing equipment.
