According to Politico, French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday opposed the violent overthrow of the Iranian regime, warning that it could have destabilizing effects across the Middle East. "The biggest mistake today was to try to change the regime in Iran by military means, because that would lead to chaos," Macron told reporters on the final day of the G7 summit in Canada. "No one can say what will happen next. We never support actions that destabilize the region," he warned. Macron mentioned that the regime changes forced by the US and NATO allies in Iraq and Libya were mistakes made in the past and should not be repeated, as it led to the deadly political instability that followed.
